Chargers Win Big In Division Game

After a stunning week 3 loss that saw them only score a measly three points against the Atlanta Falcons, the San Diego Chargers looked to get back to their winning ways in week 4 against division rivals the Kansas City Chiefs.  That’s exactly what they were able to do, as they managed a 37-20 win this week.   A solid game from Phillip Rivers, Antonio Gates and the San Diego defense is what helped them pull through.

Things did not look good for Phillip Rivers in week 3 of this season.  He was unable to covert a touchdown and threw an interception, leading to the Chargers’ first loss of the season.  Lucky for him his security blanket tight end Gates came to play on Sunday, and he was able to get the ball to him on a consistent basis.  They hooked up for multiple passing opportunities that led Rivers to be able to get the ball to players like Jackie Battle for the touchdown.  If they keep up this type of offense, they will be able to go far into the playoffs this season.

Another thing that helped the Chargers pick up a relatively easy victory against the Chiefs is their defensive effort.  They were able to turn the ball over a whopping six times during the game while turning one of those opportunities into a touchdown.  This was a great moment for a defense that was relatively unproven going into the game.  They made a statement in week 4 that they are not a team to be messed with going forward in the season.

The Chargers will need to stay strong going into week 5, however, as they are facing a New Orleans Saints team that is hungry for their first win of the season.  But with the Chargers at +3 odds in the games, they should be a decent choice as one of your NFL picks going into week 5.
