San Diego Needs To Turn Things Around In Kansas City

The San Diego Chargers played terribly this past Sunday.  There are very few that would argue with that statement.  They could not get anything going on offense and allowed the Atlanta Falcons to walk all over them, scoring 27 points to the Chargers measly 3.  They will need to get both their offense and defense in sync if they wish to stand a chance this Sunday in a  divisional match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chargers offensive side looked absolutely atrocious this past week.  Quarterback Philip Rivers, who looked great in week 2, threw for only 173 yards and had no touchdowns.  Add to that the fact that he threw two interceptions, and we have a problem.  He needs to move the ball around and not make stupid mistakes if this team wishes to succeed.  He can start by mixing things up and getting the ball to newly returning running back Ryan Mathews.  By creating a run game, the team should be able to confuse the awful Chiefs defense.

Speaking of awful defenses, the Chargers D got destroyed by Matt Ryan on Sunday.  While the Chiefs offense is nowhere near as elite as Atlanta’s, they can get the ball moving in multiple ways, most notably in the hands of Jamaal Charles.  The Chargers need to get something together on defense if they want go to 3-1 and not 2-2.  The AFC West is a rough division as well, so San Diego needs all the divisional game wins they can get.  This is almost a must win situation for them on Sunday.

At -1.5 odds against a constantly disappointing Chiefs team, the Chargers look to be one of the good NFL picks this week.  They need to turn their play around on both sides of the ball, however, if they do not wish to be embarrassed two weeks in a row.
