Week 2 Recap and Week 3 Preview

Week 2: Brady, Patriots Too Much

Can anyone stop Tom Brady? The answer may be unknown but the Chargers didn’t have the answer for him as Brady threw for 423 yards and the Patriots offense was too much. The Chargers (1-1) turned the ball over inside the Patriots’ 35-yard line three times, leading to 17 points. They also were stopped on a fourth-and-goal at the 1, and the Patriots started a 99-yard drive that ended with one of Brady’s two scoring passes to Rob Gronkowski.

I mean there’s not much to say about this game. You can’t turn the ball over and expect to win the game especially against a team like the Patriots.

Week 3: Plain and Simple: Better Team, You Better Win

Week 3 against the Chiefs is a great way for the Chargers to get back on track. The Chargers are the superior team and they should control and dominate this game.

On offense look for Malcolm Floyd to have another breakout game as the Chiefs secondary has struggled this season (see how the Lions did). Ryan Mathews looked good last week and look for him and Mike Tolbert to see increased carries.

On defense, the Chiefs are recovering from the loss of Eric Berry in week 1 and more importantly Jamaal Charles in week 2. So the Chargers should be able to control the line of scrimmage and make Matt Cassel’s day a very long one.

Key to Victory: Turnover battle– The only way I see the Chargers losing is if they turn the ball over. They should dominate the game because they are the better team.

Outcome: The Chargers win 35-14.
